We're a VC-backed company building the data platform and fintech infrastructure to make solar on rentals a logical, profitable decision. If you want to be one of the first software engineers on a great team at the intersection of energy, proptech and fintech, read on!
**We're hiring a full-stack software engineer (in person in for at least 3d a week in NYC) to take our product from 1-10 during the pre-seed phase and to join our mission of bringing energy retrofits to rental homes.
Salary range is $140-180k.**

Rental homes are lagging behind in the energy transition: less than 0.1% of rental properties have solar, which is about 100x less than owner-occupied homes. This gap is a massive climate challenge, equity problem, and missed economical opportunity.
Why is there virtually no solar in the rental market? Today, split incentives are the key roadblock holding back solar adoption on rentals - rental property owners can't profit from solar when tenants pay energy bills and get the associated savings.
This problem is exactly why we're building Fram Energy, an end-to-end software solution that solves the split incentive issue by empowering solar panel owners to monetize on-site generated electricity via their tenants' energy bills. For property owners, we open up a new income stream whilst simultaneously addressing net zero goals. For renters, we lower energy bills and enable access to clean energy. For the planet, we unlock gigawatts worth of emissions reduction.
Fram Energy has raised over $2.4M in venture capital and non-dilutive funding and was named the top U.S. solar startup by The Department of Energy in the 2024 Solar Prize Competition. Our first pilot is up and running, with tenants paying their bills every month through Fram Energy.
Charlotte Meerstadt founded Fram Energy in 2023. We are building a purpose-driven, highly functioning and joyful team to deliver on all these promises. Read more about our culture here.
As one of our first hires, you will be a big part of Fram Energy’s story. Your core responsibility will be to work with other engineers on building the tenant and property owner facing features of our software product, as well as rolling up your sleeves and diving into hardware-software systems design, site visits, customer interactions, sales and discovery. You will collaborate intensively with the broader Fram Energy team. This role is a great opportunity to drive the development of an impactful product, but at this early stage there is always so much to do that you’ll end up getting involved in all kinds of company activities. There will be several different growth paths available to you.
We have two key components of our product: property owner and rental tenant-facing. By the time you start, both of these products will be transitioning from beta to scale, but some key features still need to be built. You’ll be working with our customer-facing, data, and operations teams to build a software stack that enables Fram Energy to meet the needs of different types of users.
